The company has announced the launch of “Uber Trains” in partnership with the British startup Gemini Trains. Starting in 2029, new high-speed trains will connect London, Paris, Brussels, and Lille.
The main goal is to challenge Eurostar’s monopoly, as round-trip tickets London–Paris often exceed €200.
Tickets for the new trains will be available directly in the Uber app, with up to 10 daily departures planned.

EU Launches New Schengen Entry/Exit System (EES) in 2025
The European Union will introduce the Schengen Entry/Exit System (EES) on October 12, 2025, bringing a major change to border control for millions of travelers. The new EES border system replaces manual passport stamping with a fully digital process that improves security, speeds up border checks, and helps track overstays.

What is the Schengen Entry/Exit System (EES)?
The Schengen EES is a digital database that records the entry and exit of all non-EU citizens traveling to the Schengen Area. It applies to both visa-exempt travelers and those with short-stay visas. Instead of getting a physical stamp in the passport, travelers will be registered electronically.

How Will the New EU Border Rules Work?
On their first trip after October 2025, travelers will provide biometric data – fingerprints and a facial image – which will be stored in a central system for three years. Each time they cross a Schengen border, the EES will automatically log their entry and exit, ensuring the 90/180-day stay rule is respected. This makes it easier for authorities to detect overstays.

Where Will the EES Be Implemented?
The new EES border control system will be rolled out in 29 European countries, including all Schengen member states.

What Travelers Should Expect in 2025
While the EU border system will make travel more efficient in the long run, some delays are expected during the initial rollout. Travelers are advised to check the new rules before departure and allow extra time at border crossings.
