Personal operational contact

IBG Travel designs and coordinates B2B shore excursions in Europe for travel agencies, tour operators, cruise groups and professional organisers. We combine port pickup, licensed local guides, suitable transport, timed visits and contingency planning around the ship’s published call, passenger profile and the actual distance between the terminal and the destination.

Private and group shore excursions in European ports

A shore day has a fixed operational window. Disembarkation, terminal access, tender procedures, traffic, attraction entry and the ship’s all-aboard time determine what can be delivered safely. We build the programme backwards from the required return rather than filling every available minute.

Excursions can be arranged for private parties, agency groups, incentives, educational groups and cruise series. In Helsinki, Tallinn and selected Spanish and European ports, the format may combine panoramic touring, guided walks, museums, local food, cultural visits or a focused special-interest programme.

Port pickup, guides and transport

The meeting plan identifies the terminal, permitted pickup point, sign, guide or driver contact and action to take if disembarkation is delayed. Some ports allow vehicles close to the ship; others require a walk, shuttle or remote coach area.

Vehicle selection depends on group size, luggage if the call includes embarkation or disembarkation, accessibility and the route. Our coach hire and group transport service covers vehicle capacity, driver-hours, parking and access restrictions.

Realistic timing and return-to-port planning

Independent excursions require a conservative return margin. We review the scheduled berth or anchorage, all-aboard time, local traffic patterns, seasonal pressure, ticket times and alternative routes. The operating plan states the planned port return and the assumptions on which it is based.

IBG Travel does not use an unconditional “ship will wait” promise for an independently arranged excursion. If a cruise-line guarantee is essential, the excursion should be booked through the cruise line. Our role is to reduce avoidable risk through realistic scope, local monitoring and clear contacts.

Multi-port programmes and cruise series

For agencies handling a cruise itinerary, we can coordinate excursions in several ports under one brief while keeping each call operationally separate. Passenger numbers, language, mobility, ship times and supplier availability are reconfirmed for every port and sailing date.

Multi-port work can be combined with incoming tour operator services in Europe, including pre- and post-cruise hotels, airport transfers, land extensions and arrangements for accompanying staff.

Accessibility, families and special-interest groups

Walking surfaces, steps, historic centres, coach access, toilets and attraction lifts must match the group. We ask about wheelchairs, reduced mobility, children, sensory needs and required breaks before confirming the route.

Special-interest programmes may focus on architecture, design, food, maritime history, nature, technical visits or local communities. The concept is adapted to the time in port, but essential accessibility and return conditions are not traded for extra stops.

Information needed for a shore excursion proposal

Send the ship name, cruise line, port, date, scheduled arrival and departure, passenger count, language, age profile and mobility information. Include preferred sights, excursion duration, vehicle standard, meals, tickets and guide requirements.

Tell us whether the group is in transit, embarking or disembarking and whether luggage is involved. Final meeting instructions and supplier contacts are issued after the berth, terminal access and service scope have been confirmed.

Frequently asked questions about shore excursions in Europe

Can IBG Travel arrange shore excursions in several European ports?

Yes. We can coordinate a multi-port cruise programme while confirming timing, guides, vehicles and access separately for each call.

Will the ship wait if an independent excursion is delayed?

Not normally. That assurance generally applies only to cruise-line excursions. We plan an appropriate return margin but do not present an independent tour as carrying the cruise line’s guarantee.

Can the excursion be private?

Yes. We arrange private excursions as well as coaches and guide teams for larger agency or cruise groups.

Can you include attraction tickets and meals?

Yes, subject to opening times, availability and the confirmed port window. Timed entries must fit the transport and return plan.

Do you organise pre- and post-cruise services?

Yes. Hotels, transfers, land tours and other incoming services can be quoted as a separate or combined programme.
